CHAPTER 1: ADOPTION
One day, I was just minding my own business at home and bugging my mom as usual about getting a human.
“Mom,” I said, “Why can’t I get a human?”
“Don’t worry,” she said, “soon you will”.
I want a human because they eat three meals and are happy to share, they scratch places you can’t reach, they let you ride in big things (they call them cars), and they are nice, friendly, and loyal. I also don’t like all my siblings because they hog all the food and pile on me at night. If I was with a human, maybe I would get to sleep in their bed or get one of my own! I have been waiting for 2 moons for one!
Then one day we saw some humans who wanted to get adopted by me. They were riding in a broken car with no windows and no roof (they called it a sit-by-sit – also known as a side by side), and I loved it! They all walk on two legs, they have no fur and to make up for that they each have artificial fur. They all wanted to be my slaves and I liked it! Unfortunately, the big one sneezed on me. I will hold an eternal grudge only forgivable by tons of treats and tons of tummy rubs. I may forget, but I never forgive.
After that day, they started frequently visiting and I came up with names for them: I named the Daddy Wolf Extra Large Daddy Wolf (the sneezer) because of his size, I named the Mom Mommy Wolf because she is the mom, I called the eldest son King Meatball because he gave me a meatball, I named the second son Lord Pizza Crust because he gave me a lot of pizza crusts (my personal favorite), and I called the youngest son Gum God because he dropped a couple of pieces of gum and it just seemed to fit him (also, just so you know, I swallowed the gum, just as you are supposed to).
On the day I finally adopted my humans, I said bye to my mom, and sisters and bye to my brothers (Although it wasn’t goodbye forever. I know where my mom, sisters, and brothers go on the beach. It’s just goodbye until I see her on the beach. I just probably won’t see my siblings again, hopefully.) I wagged my tail so hard that it started hitting me so I had to think of something really sad. I imagined life with my siblings forever…
Just before we went out on a big moving vehicle that I now call the Big Thing, I said “See you at the beach.”
